COURSE DESCRIPTION

This Endourology Academy course presents a detailed Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery (RIRS) with Fluoroscopy-Assisted Navigation System (FANS) for the management of a right lower pole kidney stone. Dr. Kremena Petkova demonstrates a step-by-step approach in a 42-year-old male patient with a history of ureteroscopy (URS) and intermittent right-sided flank pain.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Preoperative Planning – Evaluating stone location, density (1245 HU), and patient history for optimal surgical strategy.

  • RIRS with FANS Approach – Enhancing precision using fluoroscopy-assisted navigation for better access and stone fragmentation.
  • Stone Management – Laser lithotripsy techniques to effectively treat a lower pole stone.
  • Postoperative Considerations – Evaluating stone-free rates, potential complications, and follow-up recommendations.

This course provides a comprehensive, real-case demonstration of an advanced RIRS technique, offering invaluable insights for urologists managing complex lower pole stones.
