Prof Dr Iliya Saltirov from Military Medical Academy, Sofia, Bulgaria describes and demonstrates each and every step of Semi-rigid ureteroscopy including anatomy of ureter, endoscopes, accessories and energy sources used during semi-rigid ureteroscopy.

Prof Dr. Iliya Saltirov

Prof. Saltirov graduated from Medical University of Sofia in 1983 and completed his residency in urology at Military Medical Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria. He completed his PhD and MSc degrees and became a full time professor in 2015. He was appointed as Head of the Department of Urology and Nephrology at Military Medical Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria in 2008. In 2002 he helped set up the Unit of Endourology and SWL at the Department of Urology and Nephrology at Military Medical Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria, which became a state-of-the art center for endourology and stone disease. His professional interests are in the area of minimally invasive urology. His professional qualifications include multiple courses and fellowships in Bulgaria, Europe and Asia. Prof. Saltirov is a member of Société Internationale d’Urologie (SIU), Endourological Society, European Association of Urology (EAU) and the International Alliance of Urolithiasis (IAU) and board member of the EAU Section of Urolithiasis (EULIS) and the South-Eastern European Group of Urolithiasis Research (SEGUR). He is the chairman of the organizing committee of the annual international meeting Endourology and Minimally Invasive Surgery in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Prof. Saltirov has authored more than 300 publications in Bulgarian and International scientific journals and books. He is a member of the editorial boards and reviewer for a number of Bulgarian and International journals and editor in chief of the Bulgarian Journal of Endourology and Minimally Invasive Surgery.

Prof. Saltirov has more than 20 years of teaching experience. He is responsible for teaching medical students and training residents in urology. He has been a scientific mentor for more than 10 PhD students working in the field of endourology and stone disease. He is responsible for postgraduate training in endourology and urolithiasis at the Department of Urology and Nephrology at Military Medical Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria
