Name: Prof Dr Scoffone Cesare

Affiliation:

Dr. Scoffone graduated in Medicine and Surgery and specialized in Urology at the University of Turin. Initially assistant of General Surgery at the San Lazzaro Hospital in Alba (Cuneo), he continued his training as a 1st level Medical Director at the University Division of Urology of the San Luigi Hospital in Orbassano (Turin), directed by Prof. Dario Fontana until 2000 and subsequently by Prof. Roberto Mario Scarpa. Since 1 November 2010 he has been Director of the Complex Structure of Urology at the Cottolengo Hospital in Turin. He boasts extensive surgical experience (with particular reference to minimally invasive and innovative techniques), a robust scientific background (evidenced by numerous national and international publications) and a rich didactic activity (both frontal and in the operating room). In the surgical field, Dr. Scoffone can boast a very rich case history both from a quantitative point of view (over 6000 interventions by first operator), and from a qualitative point of view (with extensive experience in all fields of urology, from endourology to surgery to the sky open, to laparoscopic). In particular, he distinguished himself for having introduced in Italy the supine position of Valdivia modified Galdakao for combined access to the upper apparatus in case of urolithiasis, ureteral stenosis or urothelial neoplasms, and for having developed, together with prof. Scarpa, the minimally invasive technique called ECIRS (Endoscopic Combined IntraRenal Surgery) for the treatment of voluminous and / or complex kidney stones; it also contributed to the diffusion of bipolar resection even of voluminous prostatic adenomas with the application of the suprapubic Reuter cannula. The organization of the assistance activity directed by him also guarantees procedures and services for the prevention, diagnosis and follow-up of benign and malignant, metabolic, malformative and functional urological pathologies. The relationship with general practitioners is constant, to whom it guarantees an easy access channel for urgent cases and with whom it collaborates in the pre- and post-operative management of the patient.
